Coaches are central to sport and essential to achieving Sport England's outcomes to grow and sustain participation, and develop talented performers. High quality coaches ensure that young people and adults have an enjoyable and quality experience in their sport regardless of the level at which they participate. The UK Coaching Framework has set the ambitious vision of creating a world leading coaching system by 2016. This will seek to both enhance the quality of coaching and increase number of active coaches to drive and support increased participation and talent development. To meet this challenge locally Active Cumbria is bringing partners together to create a network that will increase the support available to coaches, set out a strategic plan for coaching, improve communication, and promote coaching and development opportunities.
